Basys 3 board with several PMOD boards attached – Credit: Digilent
The Basys 3 from Digilent is an FPGA Trainer Board based on AMD Xilinx’s Artix-7 FPGA.
In future blog entries, I will be including several projects based on this Trainer Board.
The Basys 3 board features the following major component blocks:
- One Artix-7 (XC7A35T-1CPG236C) including
- 33,280 LEs in 5200 slices
- 1,800 Kbit Block RAM
- 90 DSP blocks
- 450 MHz+ internal clock
- On-chip Analog to digital converter (XADC)
- FPGA configuration circuitry
- Embedded Xilinx programmer accessible from a PC host through a USB port.
- On board programmable Quad-SPI flash.
- A secondary USB host port can load configuration from a USB key.
- Clocking circuitry
- 100 MHz oscillator
- Interfaces
- VGA
- USB-HID for keyboard/mouse/USB key
- General user input/output
- 16 user LEDs
- 5 user pushbuttons
- 16 user switches
- 4 digit seven-segment display
- Prototyping
- 3 PMOD connectors
- Power via USB or via user-provided 5V
